Homebound Seniors Can Get NMC BBQ Meals Delivered
Traverse City, MI – Senior citizens who are homebound can enjoy a picnic lunch from the
Northwestern Michigan College Barbecue, thanks to the Grand Traverse County Commission
on Aging, who again has volunteered to coordinate the program. Since the program’s inception
in 1998, over 2,200 BBQ meals have been delivered to homebound senior citizens.
The 53rd annual NMC Barbecue is Sunday, May 18, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Any senior
citizen who is homebound and lives within 5 miles of Traverse City may receive a Barbecue
meal delivered through the combined efforts of the Commission on Aging staff and community
volunteers.
Tickets for the Barbecue meal are $5 and must be purchased in advance through the
Grand Traverse Commission on Aging by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13. Meals are
scheduled to be delivered during the times of 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
To place a reservation, homebound seniors may call the Commission on Aging, (231) 922-4688
by May 13.
