Spread the word
Time to renew memberships ($25 per couple, $20 per single) and newsletter subscriptions ($7 per year).

The Center is open to the public, and Janet is a terrific cook! Support us by coming to lunch and to our fund-raising dinners.
Volunteers for chicken dinners, please call Rosalyn Goldstick at 547-2636. Volunteers for roast beef dinners and homemade pies/baked goods, please call Anne Marie Barnes at 547-1825. For anything else, please call the office at 547-5361.
Also, Clayton Smith is going to help us restart our Good Old Days group. It will be the 1st Wednesday of the month at 10:30 am. Share bits and pieces of your life.
View plans for the extended kitchen and dining room at the center. Donate a table for $150; a small plaque with your name will be attached if you wish. All gifts, small or large, are tax deductible.
The Charlevoix Humane Society has many wonderful pets who need new homes. Memberships and donations welcome.

Computer Classes
Thanks to a donation of 4 retired computers and technical assistance from Charlevoix Public Schools, we now have updated computers with high-speed Charter Internet access.
We finally have the ability to provide step-by-step, hands-on experience to you. No books, just elementary tips. Even if you only hunt and peck, that's fine. No technical knowledge is necessary.
You'll learn how to set up an e-mail account and send me a message; then I'll send you a message. I'll spend maybe an hour with 4 people at a time, hoping that those 4 can help others, and so on. I'll take members in good standing first, and if there's time later, those who subscribe to the newsletter.
Before you come to a session, I need you to (1) think of a name to call yourself, like a nickname--or if you want to use your own name, fine. (2) Also think of a password that only you will know.
E-mailing is fun. Bring your friends' and relatives' e-mail addresses. I'm sure your grandchildren will be pleasantly surprised.
If you already know e-mail basics, this class is not for you. Perhaps we'll have advanced courses later. We'll have those lists of new sites that have been in past newsletters so if any of these topics are of interest, the aides downstairs can help. I have hundreds more.

Painting
Our painting class has been together for about a year and a half. At the present time, we are painting a lighthouse scene on a canvas with acrylic paints. We have painted on watercolor paper, wood, metal, and I plan to have a class on fabric in the future.
At the present time, there are six active members in the group, but we want more. You do not need to know how to paint, just want to learn how to paint. We're very informal and have a fun time Friday mornings from 9:30 - 11:30. Join us!

Lending Library
Thanks to all who have donated books and tapes. Borrow what you'd like.

Cards
The Tuesday night ladies' card games continue, and there is always room for more to join in the fun. Come to the Center at 7:00 each Tuesday for the game of your choice. And if you are interested in Mah Jongh, please sign up at the office. Men: sign up to start a new men's card group!

RSVP
The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program of Charlevoix and Emmet Counties is a free program that invites adults age 55 and older to use their life experience and skills to answer the call of their community. Giving from three to forty hours per week, RSVP members help solve community needs.  Call 347-5877 today!
The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Charlevoix and Emmet County is planning to invite a tour operator who specializes in senior travel to speak to interested seniors--at no cost or obligation to them. We need to count interested parties, so please call 347-5877.

COMPUTER VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
If you love to work on the computer and have a little extra knowledge and experience, we are inviting you to help us with our computer lab, to assist others as they come to work, to possibly help them solve some of their problems. Please let the office know if you can help.
