01.b. THE ALLIANCE
1. Purpose: An adult foster
care/assisted living placement service that allows individuals their dignity and
independence to select the type of home they would like to live in.

Step One: a representative from the Alliance will meet with individuals in their own home to discuss and determine their own needs and desires.
Step Two: After viewing a portfolio of Adult foster care/Assisted living homes, 2-3 homes are selected for consideration.
Step Three: The Alliance will arrange interviews with the home managers and assist you in visiting them.
We also have information on which homes provide respite care to meet specific needs.

Community Workshops, Presentations, Health Fairs: The chapter offers speakers, programs, informational displays, and resource materials for special presentations.
Safe Return: A nationwide identification program enables others to identify, locate, and return people with dementing illnesses who are lost.
Library Services: Print, audio, and visual resources are available through a number of resource libraries in our area.
Newsletter: A quarterly publication features caregiving tips, chapter news, events, program calendars, and updates on research and advocacy.

1. Purpose: The goal of Care Management is to support
independent living for the frail older adult, avoiding premature
nursing home or adult foster care placement.

children. Following 40 hours of pre-service/orientation, Foster Grandparents are
introduced to specific children to visit each week in a caring role of
friendship and practical support. In addition to meaningful work and a new
network of friends, Foster Grandparents receive an hourly non-taxable stipend,
transportation reimbursement, meal allowance, supplemental insurance, on-going
monthly training and an annual physical. Recognition events are held annually to
honor the program volunteers.
Foster Grandparents serve children (clients) identified and
referred through volunteer referral stations. Children may have special
emotional, physical, or intellectual needs that require additional love,
patience, and individual attention to mature and function at their potential.
Examples of special needs include children with developmental disabilities,
mental impairments, learning disabilities, language barriers, sensory
impairments, or victims of abuse and neglect.

to the program. Donations are graciously accepted from consumers.
9. Specific Services: Foster Grandparents may provide companionship, emotional
support, mentoring, or tutoring to children. Playing games, reading together,

with support and supervision by staff from volunteer stations and the Foster
Grandparent Program.
