MEDICARE SCAM 2008

The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is NOT reissuing Medicare cards. They will never call beneficiaries at home to ask them for their bank account information and their Medicare number.

Medicare beneficiaries in the Detroit, Grand Rapids, and the Manistee area have received calls from scam artists. If you receive such a call, write down as much information as you can (name, telephone number, time of day, etc.) so that government officials can use the information to track and prosecute these criminals.

As a general practice, NEVER give out personal information on the telephone unless you are the one making the call and you are sure who you are talking to.
